White Spaces for Cheaper wireless Internet

High-speed wireless Internet will be cheaper and more available across the United States in the near future, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission and a Google co-founder said on Thursday.
FCC Chairman Kevin Martin and Larry Page, president, products for Google said a decision on Tuesday by the U.S. agency to open unused television spectrum known as "white space" along with better radios, can help improve Internet access in urban and rural areas.
Radio is at the heart of Wi-Fi, wireless mobile phones, and Blackberry's.

Windows "Cloud" will Start the New Era?

“Just as we have an operating system for the PC, for the phone, and for the server, we need a new operating system that runs in the Internet,” Mr. Ballmer said during a speech in France on Thursday. “I bet we’ll call it Windows something. We’re going to announce it in four weeks. We might even have a trademark by then. So, for today I’ll call it Windows Cloud. And Windows Cloud will be a place where you can run arbitrary applications up in the Internet. . .”

What do you think of the press release from Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s chief executive? Mr. Ballmer has mentioned this operating system, dubbed Windows Cloud, at events in London and Paris. The name-dropping comes ahead of Microsoft’s Professional Developers Conference later this month in Los Angeles.

The actual name will be mentioned within these four weeks. What I think is, Windows is very prepared to be the leader. It is similar when they came up more than a decade ago. Think about it first and being the first publisher. New York Times report didn't get the detail of it. The detail is not revealed yet.

Can it be revolutionaire as Windows operating System? Can Bill Gates hated even more? Lol.

Home Energy Ball Wind Turbin

Let's see about the feature of this energy ball. of the hottest news recently.
The website is in Swedish, you can click here.

Max power generated is 2500 Watt for V200 (1.98 m rotor diameter, weight 90 kg) in the max wind speed of 40 m/s. The starting speed can achieve 3 m/s.

But some report say that typical wind speed in urban area is only 1.73 m/s although max wind speed can achieve 16.17 m/s. You can check the source at http://www.scoraigwind.com/citywinds/

The company claim that it can substitutes 50% of electricity consumption household, but the data is very minimum.

Good points are that it is said very silent, claimed very efficient comparing other type, the price is $4,600 for V100 and $8,100 (exclude mounting), and it can be plugged in home electric installation with the control panel.

I think they must publish the data of each wind speed for us to start using it. It is not very cheap.

Digital Home, the Future Home

What do you have in mind regarding future home? In many answers, we have something in common, the need of digital home. Some researcher says that it is the beginning of the end of television era.

According to Roger Geerts, director of systems engineering Australia and New Zealand at Juniper Networks, the network into the home is being driven by consumer demand for content on devices such as TV and advances in delivery via devices such as personal recorders and video on demand.

“While we don’t have the broadband speeds needed yet, in five years the only thing that you would watch as a TV broadcast is sporting events that make sense
to see live."

The concern of of this kind of future home by applying home network is entertainment.

Vincent Kennedy, chief engineer networking applications group at NEC, said the main drivers for home networking in Australia are centred on entertainment.

although he has added another components.

"... the network can be used for voice networks and typically merging applications such as voice IP and video IP and appliances such as airconditioners, also IP controlled."

Much of the technology is already available in the form of technologies such as broadband delivery via electricity cables. David Cannon, program manager for communications at researcher IDC, said the challenge for delivering technology for a smart home is to do so using existing infrastructure and delivering broadband over electricity cables goes a long way in achieving that end.

“The digital home from my perspective really should focus on digital entertainment rather than telling you when to buy milk etcetera, which although a good concept is small bickies compared to what I am talking about."

What we say in this topic is in the near future, digital home in our soonest future is home with multimedia entertainment connected with the network, although some supplier has think about other possibilities.

What Are There in Future Home?

If your answer is wrong, don't be afraid. It's not a really right or wrong answer to be. But there are some professional get paid to imagine the future. They foretell with today situation background. So it is good to listen to them.

Two of them are experts Christopher Sanderson, of The Future Laboratory and Richard Brindley, of the Royal Institute of British Architects, outline their visions of what might be to come. I get this article from BBC News

CLIMATE EXTREMES

Mr Brindley says houses will be built with better insulation and old houses will have to have it installed. They will also need ways of keeping cool in hot weather, whether that's air conditioning or more shading of windows.

SLIDING WALLS

The flexibility of wall, glass and furniture , such as convertible sofa-beds and those which can be neatly stacked away when not in use.

'PRO-AM' APPLIANCES
Short for professional-amateur, for kitchen, dry cleaning and service normally today outsourced from outside.

CLEVER FRIDGES

Mr Sanderson expects Radio Frequency Identification technology (RFID), already used to security tag items in shops, to be extended to food packets.

ROBOTS
"They will mostly be small, inbuilt silent little robots sorting out your fridge or opening and closing your blinds than Jeeves the butler-like robots wandering around with dusters.

"There will be micro-robots designed to carry out specific tasks such as cleaning toilets or drains." He also foresees new materials for buildings and appliances which can repair and regenerate themselves, or which change shape when an electrical current is passed through them.
